This very talented and committed student Edie deserves a special mention for making it to the EBLC Multicultural Public Speaking Competition. Well done Edie!!
We watched a video about the Changing States of Matter. We wanted to find out what happens when a solid (bicarb soda) is mixed with a liquid (white vinegar).
* plastic bottle
* bicarb soda
* white vinegar
Step 1. We stretched out the neck of the balloon so we could put a spoon of bicarb soda in it.
Step 2. We put some vinegar in the plastic bottle.
Step 3. We attached the neck of balloon to the neck of the bottle.
Step 4. We tipped the balloon up so the bicarb soda mixed with the vinegar.
The balloon expanded because the mixture of bicarb soda and vinegar created the gas, carbon dioxide.
Our experiment worked well because our balloon expanded quite a lot.
During science we had to prove that air has weight.
First we watched a video about MATTER. While we watched the video we filled out a worksheet. The we collected the materials we needed for our experiment.
* metre long stick
* balloon pump
Step 1. We found the balance point of the meter stick
Step 2. Next we tied string around the balance point
Step 3. We taped it in place
Step 4. We taped the deflated balloon on one end of the stick
Step 5: We blew up the other balloon and taped it on the other end of the stick
The end of the stick with the blown up balloon was lower than the other end, showing it was heavier than the balloon with no end in it. Our Experiment worked really well!!
